Mind of God?
How is your mind today?
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2 (niv)
"..the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God." Romans 8:7-8 (niv)
"Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men." Matthew 16:23 (niv)
"Thanks be to God - through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin." Romans 7:25 (niv)
Blessings!!

"Going Out Of Business"
Bloggers...
Just a quick blog posting my "after-thoughts" this morning as I drove on I-435 into Kansas. Since our economy is on the decline, I have noticed more and more businesses going out of biz! Circuit City, KB Toys, and many more! It doesn't matter if the business is small or large. Nations and kingdoms (in the world) fall. There's always a rise and decline of a leader. Worldly success don't last. Worldly wealth is pointless.
"For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it." 1 Timothy 6:7 (niv)
But God never goes out of business! So what is profitable for each of you? Is it money? Is it fame? Is it a position? Is it success?
"This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone." Titus 3:8 (niv)
One question is, how strong is your faith in God? If it is ongoing strong, you're making great investments, not that you work to earn your salvation (Eph. 2:8-9) but your faith (walking with God; obedience) depends on God's grace and love!

I'll be back.
Good evening, Bloggers!!
I got a few emails wondering why the Nike Formula Blog has been quiet. It's been since November the last time I posted a blog.
Don't worry.. I'm just taking a break from Blogging.. It's been a tough transition from Virginia to Kansas, a roller-coaster ride!! At this time, it is still tough, especially when Christmas is just 15 days away!
Keep on praying for us. Check back as often as you can. I will blog (or) create a new blog site. I really don't know yet.
Blessings to you all! Have a wonderful holidays and Happy New Year!!

A Soap Manufacturer
Thanks to Paul Dymoke...
A soap manufacturer who was a non-churchgoer walked down the street with a minister.
'The Gospel you preach hasn't done much good,' he said. 'The world is still filled with wickedness.'
They passed a little girl making mud pies, and very much involved in her work. 'Soap hasn't done much good, would you say?' asked the minister, pointing to the child.
'It's useful only when applied,' said the manufacturer.
'Precisely,' said the minister.

Narrow Way
I love this picture!!! Let's take a moment and read God's Word:
"Go in through the narrow gate.
The gate to destruction is wide,
and the road that leads there is easy to follow.
A lot of people go through that gate.
But the gate to life is very narrow.
The road that leads there is so hard to follow
that only a few people find it." Matthew 7:13-14
*****
Now.. Take a look at the picture above.. After reading the Scripture above, what do you see.
*****
I'm going to throw something to you.. Here's a thought. Did you know that:
Early Christians were not actually called "CHRISTIANS", but "FOLLOWERS OF THE WAY?"
In other word, accepting Jesus is not a decision, but A JOURNEY.
Again... Look at the picture... What do you see?
We must rediscover our faith as a "way" of life, not simply a system of belief. It's hard to deny that many Christians have lost "the way" of faith in God, simply giving intellectual thoughts to a system of beliefs that they hope will give them to Heaven when they die.
The early Christians were called, "Followers of the Way." Could the same be said of us?
How are you "following" Him?

Heavy Heart....
I've been having an awesomely heavy heart in the last week.. I just got off the phone with a dear deaf Romanian brother in Christ of mine. His name is Gandy Mihai. He lives in Pitesti, Romania along with a couple other Romanian Deaf Christians.. I surely miss being with them. Gandy asked me when I will be back in Romania to teach them the Word of God in Romanian Sign Language. I had hoped to go sometimes very soon to encourage the Romanian Deaf brothers and sisters in Christ. I love their country, too! It is so beautiful! It's almost like Kansas and Colorado where they have the plains full of wheat and mountains full of springs. And their dracula castles, wow!!!!
The next time I go, I want to bring my wife along. In the near future, I'll be bringing along my daughters, first Amanda, then Angela then Alyson. That's the goal!
If you haven't done so, go and experience life in the Third World Countries. It'll change your life, forever... It changed mine and that's why I'm elsewhere serving the Lord!
Oh, You Talkin' To Me???
Yes.. I'm talkin' to you.. :)
I was asked by someone, "When you preach, how do you really know what to say??"
Good question, huh??
I sometimes suggest this, "Before you say anything, stop and think. Think before you speak." I love the book of James. James (through God) as if he is alive, speaks to us today. He talks about life, example, temptation, grace, forgiveness, faith and many more. To stop and think is much more wiser than to be quick to answer. James said, "My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to become angry,.." James 1:19 (niv)
I know a few of whom I walk beside as we walk on our way to Heaven who is such a great and awesome example. They do so well with their faith with God.
So, what is my advice?
I like this advice:
"Stop and T.H.I.N.K.." Ask yourself:
Is this TRUE?
Is this HELPFUL?
Is this IMPORTANT?
Is this NECESSARY?
Is this KIND?
True? Helpful? Important? Necessary? Kind? There's nothing else that is better to answer this question. We are to THINK before we preach, THINK before we say anything, or THINK before we make decisions that may appear to be rash.
I need this advice, maybe we should stop and THINK before we express in signs (ASL) or open our mouths at all. ;)
Proverbs 15:28: "Good people think before they answer, but the wicked speak evil without ever thinking."

Mess...
"Consider what God has done: Who can straighten what he has made crooked?" Ecclessiastes 7:13 (niv)
We must have an eye to God and to His hand in everything that befalls us. Ecclessiastes reminds us about life on earth and life before God. We ask God to silence our complaints concerning any events. Let u consider the hand of God in them and not open our mouths and hands against that which is His doing. Whatever befalls us is a product of His eternal counsel and guidance.
In the picture, you'll notice many wirings, cords, plugs, cables, etc. This is exactly how we're feeling right now. We know God has His reason for us being in this state. Despite of all this messy wirings, we're still faithful to the Lord. Despite the disorganization, we cannot mend it overnight but we'll make the best of it as time goes.
Pray for us as we continue to pray for you all!
Blessings!

Walking with the Family of God
We welcomed and prayed for two new additions to the family of God @ Overland Park Church of Christ. Aletha (Joann) Hampton and Charlotte (Peachie) Strunk stood before the deaf congregants announcing their commitment to serve our Lord Jesus Christ!
Both, Joann and Charlotte were baptized in the past. They have been searching highs and lows looking for a deaf church family to continue doing the Lord's will. We're extremely thrilled that they're committed with us! May the Lord bless them, keep them, protect them and inspire them into new heights for the glory of God!

God of the Universe
You know what? I love the Universe that the Lord has made. Everything in the Universe is mind-blowing. Peaceful. Beyond words. Beautiful. Harmonious. Glorious. Awe-inspiring.
Imagine this! This image, per the scientist with the Hubble Space Telescope, is a mind-blowing 400 million light years away! Light years, people! An extremely wicked mind-blowing thought! God is good!
It made me take a glimpse of David's words as he looks into the skies declaring God's glory:
Psalm 19:1-4 (NIV)
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,
That's why I'm proud to be called one of His children and that we bow before Him, our God and King of the Universe!

Pumpkin Carving With My Girls
Last Saturday, we went to a neighborhood Halloween party with my brother and his wife. It was FUN!!! :) Our girls got to carve the pumpkins. It was good being with them and helping them out. Amanda created a "BOO"! Alyson created a "Jack O' Lantern" and Angela created a "Spider design"..

Why Go?
Morning, Bloggers....
First of all, I had a pretty good scare with my heart and was admitted into the hospital with Atrial Fibrillation (an irregularity of my heart)... I had to stay in the hospital for 2 days including a "Cardioconversion" (shock) of my heart. It was an interesting experience!! I'm "living" to tell about the "conversion" of my heart!! :)
I was asked "Why do you go to church? Why do you worship God? Why do you read the Bible? Why??" Here why....
1. I get the time to be with my fellow brothers and sisters taking steps toward Christ our Lord. How often do I get to sit with them? No often enough as I want but I made every effort to do so.
2. I get to watch God work in the lives of my brothers and sisters in Christ. They come to pray about their next steps for the upcoming week. They are responding to God's Spirit and I get to watch them from a front seat (with popcorn: Bible)!
3. I need time in the shadow of the Cross with my fellow Christians like me, on the journey beside me.
4. The worship enriches my soul and deepens my love for God.
5. They challenge me to new heights (some say, "Oh yeah, tell me about it!".) ;) I'm a better guy because I'm worshipping God. True! When I'm back home, I'm stronger than I was when I left home to worship God.

Sunrise on the Lord's Day
We're glad to be able to leave at 7 in the morning on a 2 hour trek back to Overland Park to worship God! Of course! We would do anything for the Lord, including waking up in the wee morning hours to be where God desires us to be! :) And He gave us an awesome treat!!! He painted the skies with heavenly hue (colors)!!! This was taken while we were driving south on 177 toward I-70!! Below the colorful sunrise is the Konza prairie!! As always, we enjoy driving between the two prairies toward Manhattan as well as leaving Manhattan!
Thank You, Lord, for displaying this beauty!! You're an Awesome God!

Our Dear Sis in Christ!
Nancy Rarus, our dear sister in Christ, came to Olathe for the Deaf Senior Citizen meeting. It was great seeing her. She visited the Deaf Cultural Center where our office is. We had lunch together and talked about how things are going in the East.
She is with the Fairfax Deaf Church family (www.fxcc.org/deaf) where I used to preach. Her presence among me and Michelle made us miss the extended family at Fairfax!
It was great seeing her! May God bless her as she continues to model Jesus among deaf seniors.

Zoe Nashville '08
This year's theme was: FEARLESS...
Michelle and I had an awesome time in Nashville! Thanks to Teresa Newsom, Forrest Sponseller, Becky Hinckley for their willingness to interpret throughout the worship conference! :) Their hearts are huge for the deaf for God! Bless them!
We learned a great deal from this conference. Amid the chaos of our country's economy, rising gas, war (spiritual and physical) and not-to-mention the young generation in the U.S. and their relationship with God, FEARLESS is a perfect theme! One quote we received from Jeff Walling is:
"I choose to fear God so I don't fear you."
Perfect! This is exactly what we need. We're going through tremendous changes, even during the worst crisis in America! It takes courage to overcome huge obstacles. Thus far, we haven't overcome, just yet. But we know the Lord will, with us, prevail for sure!
Be......... FEARLESS.

Deaf Band Of Brothers '09
Wow! What a weekend we had near Thurmont, Maryland. Fairfax Church of Christ Deaf Ministry hosted their 3rd Annual Deaf Men's Retreat!! We had 14 men altogether. It was great seeing everyone!! Alex Abenchuchan was our speaker and God did a great job through Alex! We must praise God for Alex and his heart for the souls in the D.C. community.
Now, I'm extremely exhausted, physically, but extremely uplifted in Spirit!! :) We all received a great filling of His Word. The fellowship was awesome. Lots of brotherly hugs and encouragement. Lots of laughter (jokes)!! Lots of riddles were being shared and many of us struggled to solve it!! Love filled the camp at Summit Lake. And we gave God the glory for the weekend! Praise You, God!
I am eager to be home where my wife and kids.. Also, I'm anxious to get started on the work in Kansas. So much needs to be planned for. We're anxious to bring excitement to the deaf work!
A very special thanks to Dennis and Cindi Cesone for their hospitality!! They served us well!! Kayla, their daughter, kept me company Thursday, Sunday eve and today!! We've been talking about a lot of stuff!! Bless the Cesones!
Pictures will be posted later this week!

My "Last Supper"
Good morning, Bloggers!
I'm finally back to bloggin' and PAH have internet in my new office. More pictures coming soon! Check back soon...
LOL! I think I know what you're thinking as you read the title! :) No.. I don't mean that I will be "crucified", it's Jesus that has the Original, the Ultimate "Last Supper"!! No.. I don't mean that I will give up "Christianity", Lord willing, never!
What I am referring to is my last lesson as a "full-time deaf minister with Fairfax Church of Christ". In the picture, below, is my final sermon as a deaf minister there. It was one of the most emotional day, emotional lesson I have ever given.
I love my deaf family (deaf and hearing) at FXCC!!! And, speaking for my family, we love them and miss them dearly! After 9 years of being with them, through growing pains, through trials of many kinds, countless private meetings, being the last family to leave the church building, finding trash all over our car/truck (long story here), locking up the building, eating out with fellow brothers and sisters, mentoring, encouraging, loving, serving, raking leaves, taking care of kids while our wives and ladies enjoy their LANO events, times of prayers, Deaf Worship Team meetings, Praise Team meetings (whoo! we've done alot of that!!), laughters and tears and arguments (of course!) and many more! All of them are etched forever in our hearts!!
Now, we're extremely excited about growing a new deaf church family here in Kansas! We will be working with the deaf communities in Olathe, Wichita, Lawrence, Topeka and Manhattan!!! :) All of them are within a 3 hour-drive radius! Pray for us!!
Lastly, here's a picture of my "preacher's tie"!! :) Remember this!!! Be my Elisha!! (This is for those at FXCC!!!) :)
More to come........

Omega is our Omega!!!
Morning, Bloggers, from the land of Oz!!
We're here in Kansas and doing pretty well.. All of our stuff has been moved from Virginia and stored away in an Overland Park storage space. We're elated that the moving process is over, for now! The downside of all this is the Omega Van Lines moving company. They'll definitely be our OMEGA (last) time to use as our moving company. We had to spend a few more megabucks because of them. They've horrendously under estimated on us!!! However, the Lord continue to show us His ways even through difficult times. It was a hard lesson, actually a hard pill to swallow. We see the Lord's hand in this problem and He continue to teach us that His ways are far better than the ways of man! Yet, we're extremely thrilled that they are out of our lives now! Of course, I'm silly here. Jesus is our Alpha and the Omega! Amen? Now, the next step is to sell our Virginia home! Then we'll begin searching for a home here in Kansas! Pray for us!
We're still trying to get settled. Our office is a mess right now. The word is starting to get out. It will take a couple of months to a year before we're right on track, financially and relationally. Here's an update of Overland Park Deaf Ministry. We will temporarily meet in room 215 until September 21st. Then our official room will be in 208. We're still wrestling with a decision where we will be worshipping God (in room 208 or 104).

Kansas and beyond!
Good morning, bloggers!!
We just arrived in Kansas last night!! It's been a long, long summer for me and my family. We drove from Virginia to Cedar Point, OH then all the way to Overland Park, KS. After working with families and leaders of the DCMFM (Deaf Christian Ministries Foundation of the Midwest), we made a tough, tough decision to close the spiritual chapter with Fairfax and begin a new one. Then we flew one way to Dulles to pack away our things in the house. Again, took the road back to Kansas!
On top of all things, we want to thank the Lord for His protection, His hand through all of our craziness! :) He's the Man! Thank You, Lord!!!
I will be emailing you my contact information soon. Effective today, I'm a Deaf Evangelist for the state of Kansas and Missouri as well as the Midwest part of U.S.. We will conduct deaf bible class and deaf worship at the Overland Park Church of Christ (www.opcofc.org). My office will be located at the Deaf Cultural Center (DCC) just across the street from the Kansas School for the Deaf. We're very excited about this opportunity!
Please pray for the leaders and congregants at Fairfax! Pray for Alex Abenchuchan and his wife, Alexa, as they take the reins as interns at this time. Pray for my parents and Michelle's parents as they cope with their health issues. Lastly, pray for the hearts of the deaf in the Midwest!
Website is coming soon!!! I'm anxious to get them all started!
Blessings to you all!!!
Tiger Woods 09 - Walk on Water
At least Jesus gets the credit for inspiring even pros to animately (unrealistically) imitate Jesus' walk on water. ;)

Heavy.
Man! Yesterday was one HEAVY DUTY day! It took toll on our hearts, my wife and mine! The pressure was great, I even have a cold sore to prove it! :) The Lord placed it on our hearts through His dear, dear faithful children at Fairfax!
Heavy!
50+ came to say their goodbyes to us. 15+ came later during the day and gave us their love, blessings and a long good lovin' hug.. We appreciate the love they gave us.
The weight became so much HEAVIER!
Yes! I broke down in tears after opening the album given by the deaf/hearing congregation at Fairfax. Just after looking at the first page filled with scribblings and pictures of all the great and awesome years growing together at Fairfax, just after one small glimpse of the first page, I broke down into tears. And so did Michelle. We love the deaf church at Fairfax. We adore their endurance, their perseverance, and their patience (especially with me as their faithful and "bible-thumping" minister). :)
And.... Many thanks to the hearing congregation at Fairfax Church of Christ (Elders, Ministers, Ministry Leaders and congregation) for the unconditional love and support for me, my family and the deaf work! Now, we close the chapter at Fairfax and opening a new one in Overland Park, KS.
Ultra Heavy!
It's a good feeling, though! The heavy feeling was needed! It shows how much we love the deaf church that it hurts to leave. We aren't leaving with bitter feelings. We're not just merely and simply walking away. The departure path was heavy yesterday. Their hearts swelled. Their arms were wide open. Water from their eyes were like rushing waves against our very souls.
Heavy.... We wouldn't miss this for anything in the world! Because it was the love of Jesus that was..... HEAVY.
