We're studying "Case for Faith" on Wednesday nights!! Lee Strobel's book, "Case For Faith" is awesome!! It's a highly recommended book to read!! Here's one excerpt that touched my heart! It actually felt like a train hit me!!
British minister, John R.W. Stott acknowledged that suffering is "the single greatest challenge to the Christian faith," has reached his own conclusion:
"I could never myself believe in God, if it were not for the cross... In the real world of pain, how could one worship a God who was immune to it? I have entered many Buddhist temples in different Asian countries and stood respectfully before the statue of Buddha, his legs crossed, arms folded, eyes closed, the ghost of a smile playing round his mouth, a remote look on his face, detached from the agonies of the world. But each time after a while I have had to turn away.
And in imagination I have turned instead to that lonely, twisted, tortured figure on the cross, nails through hands and feet, back lacerated, limbs wrenched, brow bleeding from thorn-pricks, mouth dry and intolerably thirsty, plunged in God-forsaken darkness. That is the God for me!
He laid aside his immunity to pain. He entered our world of flesh and blood, tears and death. He suffered for us. Our sufferings become more manageable in light of His. There is still a question mark, the cross which symbolizes divine suffering. 'The cross of Christ... is God's only self-justification in such a world' as ours."
Powerful comparison and thought!!! And that's why I love Jesus! I love Him to death! He endured the cross for us.. We, in turn, ought to endure the cross ourselves!! In the next blog, I will be posting another article explaining "The Cross".. When you have taken the "cross" and followed Jesus, are you still carrying the "cross"? It's easy to misunderstand this part.. Please take the time and read my next post in this blog.

God & War
Morning, bloggers!!
Pray you're all keeping the faith in Jesus today, this week, this month and throughout the rest of your life!
I believe this is a fantastic article and at a perfect time helping us understand war. Random thoughts on the 3rd day of January...
Ok.. I'm going to try doing this every third day of the month. It just came to mind today. I don't know why. Another side of me tells me NOT to do this while another one tells me it's important to edify His church at Fairfax and elsewhere. Probably something the Lord wants me to do. And the third day has its own significance, many: Jesus rose on the third day, Saul was blind for three days before meeting Ananias and many others in the Bible.
If you're a family at Fairfax, I encourage you to encourage your fellow brother and/or sister in Christ to read this blog as well as other spiritual blogs in the blog world. Here are some thoughts that ran through my mind today and I pondered on them and prayed to the Lord:
1. Last night's class was small. Some were out of town while another had a medical reason. I don't know about the rest but, of course, I'll leave that up to God. I was personally exhausted after a 5 and 12 hour trip in two days with only one day of rest. And I thanked God for giving me a little more energy to continue through the day and eve for an opportunity to study His Word, to feed and be fed among His family at Fairfax. Also, I encourage everyone to "reserve" Wednesdays and Sundays as a time to be with God together as a family. The reason is, two things: being an example to others (members and visitors) and a personal establishment of setting God first in their lives (Matthew 6:33).
2. After seeing my dad in Kansas last month over the holidays, I've pointed the "prayer laser" at dad's heart in hope that God will (Lord willing) intervene on his behalf as he struggles with Parkinsons disease. After seeing him, he hasn't been doing very well. Just the morning we're getting ready to leave to return to Kansas City, I gave my dad a hug and encouraged him to keep on trusting in God and that I love him so much. I just had to leave immediately because my eyes were welling up and my heart reached my throat. I sought the Lord for His hand, His power, and His mercy be poured out on him. Bless my mother for her undying devotion to her husband. She's sticking by him every inch of the way.
3. Enemies Within... "I don't like him/her." We're battling the wrong being. Not that we will "never" have conflicts, we will. Believe it or not, it's a healthy way to grow. You'll learn more about one another with it than without. Seriously! But if we cringe and run away from this conflict, then you may never grow to appreciate your fellow brother or sister in Christ. You may say that you don't like one person in the church because he/she may be too quiet or he/she may be too loud like a drama king/queen. Remember, God created individuals in a unique way. Everyone has different personalities.. I enjoy quiet people. I also enjoy loud people. Sometimes. :) The real issue is Satan. He's the real enemy. We're fighting against him.. If you have an opinion about another people around you, pray about it. Let's be positive. Let's be Jesus.
4. I was reading Paul's comments to the governor in Acts 26:29, "Short time or long - I pray God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am (Christian), except for these chains." (niv/parenthesis mine) Paul desires those he approached to tell them about Jesus to become like him. Paul loves the Lord. He imitates the Lord Jesus Christ, His love, His compassion for the lost, His zeal to give God the glory and His undying devotion to fulfill the will of the Lord, even to the point of death! Some or many of us have grown weary in our walk of faith.
That's my random thoughts on this third day! Lord, Be Praised!!!
Do you think the road to eternity is a long one? If you answered, "Yes", then you're wrong. For those whom have given their lives to the Lord in baptism, eternity lives in each of you as long as you're heartfully devoted to doing the Lord's will everyday! Paul also said, "Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ." 1 Corinthians 11:1. So, beware of others who do not give a good example to you. Avoid imitating them but only Jesus. One may decide not to go to church, would you follow their example as well? One may decide not to read the Bible everyday, would you follow their example, too? There are may other examples that I can list on and on but you know them yourselves. It would be good to daily examine your life closely:
"Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you - unless, of course, you fail the test?" 2 Corinthians 13:5 (niv)

Transfusion
Was talking with a brother in Christ of mine and we were joking a bit about how the things of life can affect and trigger our attitudes such as people pulling in front of you as you drive to home, work or wherever. The temperature of your blood rises to the point of driving you wildly mad, pounding the steering wheel and pumping your fist at them. Can you picture yourselves in this person's driver's seat?
Perhaps, even though you may have buried your old lives in the Lord and be covered with the blood of the Lamb, we ought to have a daily blood transfusion and put in the blood of Christ where it doesn't boil to the point of driving you wildly mad! :) Put in Galatians 5:22-23, the 9 fruit of the Spirit, especially when one of them is "self-control".
And, yes, you may say that you aren't a perfect Christian but that still doesn't give you the liberty of doing things that aren't in the will of God. We strive to be an example of Jesus Christ, 24/7. And, remember this, it's not you that's driving the car, it is Jesus Christ at the steering wheel. ;)

Christian President 2008
As I type, we're in Vandalia, IL staying at the Holiday Inn Express. We're returning home after being with our families in KS/MO since the 21st. We're anxious to get home and get working with God through 2008..
It's good to get out of town for a while. It helps rejuvenate the Spirit in me. I've been so much more focused on God and His plans for my life, my family, His church and all those whom meet me at every crossroads of life. Today, we attended the Blue River Church of Christ in Lee's Summit and Darin Kennedy encouraged us to use the name of "Jesus" as often as you can throughout the rest of the new year of 2008. Say the name, "Jesus". Share the name, "Jesus". Show the name, "Jesus". He encourages us to read the book of John as often as we can. As he preached on, my heart was heavy for those in the East. I sense the Spirit may be trying to tell me to keep pressing on giving God the glory, the glory, the glory! Within the next couple of weeks, I'm going to be praying and praying to God that He will do whatever He can in His power to use me through the year of 2008! I ask that each of you lift me and my family up to the Lord in your daily prayer. Thanks!
Now, I'm keeping a close eye on the two candidates: Huckabee and Thompson. I read an article in Yahoo and was so thankful that Huckabee emphasizes the name God, Jesus and Christ. He quoted this which I'm now praying that the Lord will open this door of opportunity bringing Christ to the White House:
"I hope we answer the alarm clock and take this nation back for Christ."
Let's pray to God for our nation! Look at it now. It's a terrible mess!
If I don't write tomorrow, let me say this a night in advance, "Happy New Year, everyone! Let's do more for God during 2008, seriously!"

Today is the day when the world remembers the Son of God coming into the world to save mankind from the clutch of sin, death and eternal damnation. This is the day when we give our thanks to God for His precious and priceless gift of life. This is the day when we celebrate a new life.
Today, bring Jesus into your hearts and speak His Words from the Bible. Share this gift with others around you. Rejoice in the Lord for those who believe in Jesus have life everlasting with the Father.
Prayer: "Our God! We lift up to you our hands, our hearts, our lives! We give you our thanks for giving us your Son. We know you had this all planned out since the beginning of the world, since the fall of man and through the course of history. Your Son came. Your Son walked among the hurting, poor, broken, ignorant. Your Son bore the cross and died. Your Son was buried. Now, we rejoice that your Son has risen and will come again, soon! In Jesus' Name, we pray, Amen!"

"The Dud Compass"...
Way to go, Christians!!!! "The Golden Compass" is actually "The Dud Compass".. It got them nowhere!!!
Based on Yahoo news:
"The previous No. 1 movie, New Line Cinema's fantasy "The Golden Compass," nose-dived in its second weekend, coming in third with $9 million, down a dismal 65 percent from its less-than-expected $25.8 million debut a week earlier.
"The Golden Compass," which cost $180 million to produce, has done $90 million so far overseas but has proven a dud domestically with just $41 million."
Satan is NOW bankrupt!!! :) Though, DVD sales will probably "barely" save them!
So much for Nicole Kidman. I don't think I'll watch any of her movies, seriously, even if she's in an Oscar nominating movie!!! But, hey, that's me! :)
Now, I am eager to see "I Am Legend!"!!!!

God's Family @ Fairfax (Deaf and Hearing)
Here's a nice family of the Fairfax Deaf Church family @ Fairfax Church of Christ.. So many are unaccounted for. We continue to pray for each one of them in the crowd and those not present. I wouldn't trade anything in the world in place of this family (all saints of God in the world). Despite of all the "rollercoster rides" we've gone on together, the Lord continues to help us overcome obstacles!! Praise God for these beautiful hearts!
Celebration of two new lives
Praise God! We have an awesome God! No question about it! The Thomas' buried their lives in the Lord in baptism yesterday! They are now clothed in Christ (Galatians 3:26-27). Check out these pictures and give God the glory for all He has done for them! Also, pray for them as they began their journey with God yesterday!

Noticed some people just simply pass by without a hug while many do open their arms to receive a hug given from a Christian! Awesome display of service!
